Best Bar:
Powerhouse Pub
2003!
614 Sutter St
Powerhouse is just the place to be... Not only is it a lot of
fun and well laid out (indoor, outdoor, upstairs), they attract
some of the best bands in the area. Forget going downtown to see
fun bands at Harlow's - they're now coming to Folsom to play at
the Powerhouse Pub. Nobody ever leaves this place unhappy!
Best Bar Food:
Streets of London
649 East Bidwell
"SOL" was one of the leading vote getters in best overall bar,
but its bar food makes it stand out from the rest. Your typical
chicken wings do not fly here; instead get some bangers & mash,
fish & chips, or the Thames Special ("Try it", says one
community member. "You'll love it!"), Not only does it
have great
food, it is home to the best jukebox in the Sacramento Valley.
Honorable Mention: Yager's
Best Place to Be Seen:
Powerhouse Pub
614 Sutter St
As the Powerhouse is quite a popular night spot, it's also
popular to meet up with friends, hang out, or just "be seen".
The atmosphere is very trendy, and the outdoor patios are a
great place to sit and "people watch" all the cars and
pedestrians out on the street from the hill above.
Best Tourist Spot:
Sutter Street
2003!
Sutter Street has always been the heart of Folsom. Whether you
are attending one of dozens of street fairs, or taking some out
of towners to see what a gold rush-era town used to look like,
it's maintained the charm and ambiance for the past 150 years.
Sutter Street gives Folsom the "old west" feel that is charming
and gives Folsom its identity!
Best Folsom Event:
Folsom Rodeo
2003!
Cowboy up! A 4th of July tradition in Folsom, most everybody
makes their way to the rodeo arena during its stay in Folsom.
Check out barrel racing, rodeo clowns, or the ever-popular
"mutton busting", where the bravest toddlers hang on to a sheep
for dear life and hope for a smooth landing!
Best Summer Activity:
Folsom Lake
2003!
Folsom Lake, when full, is one of the Sacramento Valley's most
beautiful attractions. It's also the most popular recreational
lake in all of California. It's no wonder, as it is great for
water skiing, sailing, fishing, or swimming. Those who don't own
a boat can always go camping or picnic on one of the many picnic
areas.
Best “Under 21” Spot: Folsom
Lake Bowl
2003!
511 East Bidwell St
Folsom Lake Bowl once again takes home the prize for the best
spot for teens. Come here on a weekend and you'll see lots of
teenagers bowling, playing video games, and much more. Folsom
has changed so much in the last 20 years, however this place is
still as popular as ever.
Best Park:
Rodeo Park/Zoo Park
The Rodeo Park and Zoo are kind of the same park so they often
get mixed up together. However it's always been popular. Come by
and picnic in the shade, play on the many play structures, take
a train ride, and then see the mountain lions, tigers, and bears
(oh my). The zoo is suddenly the place to be.
