2008 in Review
Folsom's new dog park was part of a great 2008 for Folsom. Folsom Lake Crossing won out in a naming contest for the bridge, Intel spinoff Numonyx launched, a new parking structure on Sutter Street, and Ernie Sheldon takes Eric King's council spot. Not all was good however - the economy tanked, forcing many businesses to close, and the city is facing the lowest lake level in may years.Labels: dog park, Eric King, Ernie Sheldon, Folsom Lake, Numonyx, Parking

Lights On!
Folsom's Christmas Tree was lit amid another festive holiday celebration... More than three times the lights as last year, with 5,000 LED lights donated by PG&E. 1,000 luminaries were included as well. Mayor King could not attend, but had a good excuse... his wife was delivering baby #4!Labels: Christmas Lights, Eric King, Sutter Street

The kennel will be next to the mosque, currently under construction. Folsom City Council denied the appeal by vote of 4-1, in favor of the dog kennel. King, Starsky Re-Elected
After a long campaign, Eric King and Jeff Starsky were re-elected to city council. 8 candidates were running for 2 seats, which may have helped the incumbents' chances. Perhaps more importantly is the passing of Measure W and Measure A, which could signal the annexation of Folsom south of 50, and get funds needed for a Folsom Dam bypass bridge. Parks Will Cost $3.2 Million to Finish Up
One sore spot among many residents of Folsom is that many of the parks in our neighborhoods remain unfinished. Construction mounds and chain link fences surround land that is slated for parks, yet they remain untouched. Well, Folsom Parks & Recreation is aware of the problem, and the first step to finishing these parks up is assessing how much it will cost. $3.2 Million is the magic number, and Vice Mayor Eric King plans on setting up a park renovation fund to help the city get there. Every Day is Family Day in Folsom
City Council Member Eric King proposed that Monday evenings be set aside as a family night for city workers, by limiting meetings and activities to other nights of the week, freeing up Monday nights to spend with family. After a long debate, city council agreed time spent with family is important, so now, every day is family day. Not that it means anything, it just means that the city officially stands that we are all free to set aside time to spend with our families. More is in the Folsom Telegraph and the Bee.Labels: Eric King
