Suggested Visiting spots:
- Mormon Island relocation
cemetery. This cemetery was moved during the
construction of Folsom Lake. See what's left of a once
thriving mining community.
- Negro Bar. An
interesting interpretive area dating back to an
African-American mining settlement.
- Orangevale Bridge.
See Folsom's oldest bridge before it's gone. It may be torn
down soon for a modern, "functional" bridge.
- Folsom Prison Railroad
Trail. Take a step back in time and walk the old prison
line (there are no longer railroad ties, but the trail is
there), that was in operation until the 1950s.
- Folsom Institute.
Next time you go to the zoo, check out the historical
marker, located directly under the power lines. Most people
don't know it is there, nor that it was once the site of a
respected college.
