I feel bad that it's taken so long
for me to find this place. They are right down the way from us,
yet we never made a compelling try to eat here. Perhaps it's just
because I'm a boring American, but I'm not much for culture in my
diet! It wasn't until a friend of ours told us about Mr. Kebab,
and how it's one of her favorite places. Given the economy and all
that, she's a little worried it would not make it.
My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a quiet Friday... we weren't
quite sure what to order but the man at the counter was happy to
help answer any questions. I decided to get the Lamb & Beef Doner
kebab (doner is just meat on a rotating spit), And Annie had the
chicken salad. The meals came with rice, hummus, salad, and pita
bread. The menu looks a little confusing, but just ask on anything
you're unsure about.
Wow, the food was awesome! The lamb was very tasty - my mom has
made rack of lamb and it's still a favorite of mine; it really
brought me back. The chicken was equally delicious, tasted like it
was right off the barbeque. The added bonus was the salad, which
had a mixture of Mediterranean spices on it which gave it a great
flavor. It tasted flavorful yet wasn't greasy, which I've
experienced at other places. Annie was equally impressed with her
plate.
An added bonus was the cleanliness of the place, customer service
(the owner made sure to stop by and see how everyone was doing),
and general ambiance. For a Friday, it was a pretty good lunch
crowd too. We'll be back for sure!
